It's easy to get lost in the shuffle of big-box retail stores and chain restaurants along Jefferson Road in Henrietta. Somewhat removed from the congestion, just off of Jefferson on Winton Road, is J.B. Quimby's Public House, a happy retreat for those looking to escape.
The place: Located in the Win-Jeff Plaza, J.B. Quimby's hits on all the traditional notes with video games, darts and lots of seating along the bar.
The crowd: There's a good lunch crowd during the day, and the bar's proximity to Rochester Institute of Technology and Monroe Community College draws a college-age crowd in the evening. And the day of the week doesn't seem to matter. My friends and I had a great time well into the night — on a Monday. (Is there another way to celebrate President's Day appropriately?)
Beer of the Month: Each month, J.B. Quimby's features a "beer of the month" special with $2.75 pints every day. February features Canadian import Alexander Keith's, and March will feature Harpoon's Celtic Ale.
Good Eats: J.B. Quimby's has a full menu, featuring sandwiches like Guinness-marinated pulled pork ($6.95 to $9.95). Food can also be ordered to go for an additional 25 cents per item. The kitchen closes earlier than the bar, but owner Joe Bonafede, a Henrietta local, says that if people want something late, he's happy to accommodate them.
