Secret is the newest addition to the upper East End's nightlife scene. Formerly Two89, the bar has reopened under new management as a nightclub/lounge for people who appreciate VIP treatment.
The place
Secret resembles the great room of an old Hollywood celebrity's home. Red velvet drapes, dark wood, brick walls, jewel-toned décor and a crackling fireplace give the lounge's lower space an upscale feel. On the second floor bar, things lighten up with crisp white walls and black accents. "We wanted to create a place that was high class and high energy," says manager Mike Diggs. "Secret is sexy but tasteful."
The crowd
Warning ladies: The competition is thick here.
"We usually have more ladies than guys," Diggs says. You definitely want to dress to impress at Secret. (The bartenders definitely do.) So leave your jeans, tees and caps at home. Secret has seven VIP suites. VIP service, which ranges from $50 to $350, includes a private or semi-private booth and a bottle.
