Shooters, on the corner of Fairport and Baird roads in Perinton, is back to being the only Shooters in the area — the newer Farmington location was sold earlier this month after about nine months in business.
The place: Shooters may be a sports bar, but it has a cozy, homey vibe. There’s an area devoted to bar games and darts, a bar area, a dining area, and a room set apart by a small staircase that can be used for private parties. “We try to go for a classy sports bar atmosphere,” says general manager Tony Zaccaglino. The brick pizza oven, with flames visible, adds to the coziness. Shooters also boasts two outdoor, recently redone patios. One is off the game/darts area, and the other is a dining patio. There are 15 big screen TVs and three 100-inch projectors.
The crowd: There are twentysomethings, athletes (Shooters sponsors several sports teams, including softball, bowling, volleyball and darts), families who come to eat, and a middle-aged crowd as well.
The food: Signature items include lobster macaroni and cheese ($15.99), grilled chicken wings with Shooter sauce (a mix of lime, chili, barbecue sauce and Buffalo sauce; 12 wings for $9.99). “People really seem to like the wings,” Zaccaglino said. There are plenty of options in the standard bar-fare category, such as nachos ($9.99-$11.99), mozzarella sticks ($6.99) and pizza logs ($6.99). The menu also includes burgers ($8.99 and up), wraps ($8.99), salads ($8.99-$11.99) and sandwiches ($8.99-$10.99). There are 10 varieties of wood-fired pizzas available.
Music: Live bands generally play on Saturday nights beginning at 10 p.m. Northside Johnny will be playing a show on Friday, Feb. 3.
Daily drink specials: Fiesta Monday (margaritas, loaded Coronas and Bud Light Lime on special); Two-Dollar Tuesday ($2 house wines, well drinks and domestic pints); Half-Price Wednesday (all house wines, bomb shots, pitchers, pints and well drinks are half off); Thursdays are Pizza & Pitcher night (wood-fired pizza plus a pitcher for $16; plus six wings, $20; plus a dozen wings, $25); and Friday is Ladies’ Night, groups of six ladies or more get free bottle service. Saturday nights feature a manager’s drink special.
