Be witness to one of the miracles of modern technology — 109 inches of pure flat-screen television glory — at The Basin Pub, one of the newest sports bars in town.

The place
Located in what once was an HSBC bank branch, The Basin Pub is in Hitching Post Plaza in Bushnell's Basin on Route 96, Perinton. The pub's subdued facade blends in with the rest of the plaza. Inside, it's a great modern take on a sports bar.

Oh, and wanna catch a game, match or other sporting event? The Basin Pub has seven 52-inch flat-screen TVs hung around the circular bar, but they're puny compared with the Goliath 109-inch TV — the largest in upstate New York, according to general manager Kate Gaudioso. "It's almost like (the athletes on the screen) are life-sized," she jokes.

The Basin Pub collaborates with ArtisanWorks to display local artists' creations around the rest of the pub's dining room. It has also made good use of the former tenant's huge vault, turning it into a walk-in beer cooler.

The menu
The cornerstone of The Basin Pub's classic American cuisine-style menu is the Big Pub Sandwich, 12-ounces of stacked meat with lots of topping choices. The sandwich, which is the size of an entire meal, will run you $9 to $12. The kitchen is open until midnight six days a week.

Coming soon
The Basin Pub will begin serving on Sundays. Starting Sunday, Sept. 13, it will be open from noon until midnight and will carry the NFL ticket for gridiron fanatics.
