What once was known as a sports bar now is simply known as The Overtime Grill.

It still shows plenty of sports on TV, but the main focus is on creating a welcoming, friendly atmosphere, says bartender Brian Jackson.

The place: The bar offers a good view of three televisions and a Quickdraw monitor. There’s a pool table behind the bar, and beyond the pool table is a large dining area with plenty of seating. There’s also a smaller upstairs area with a steel-tip dartboard (the boards downstairs are soft-tip).

The crowd: It’s made up of lots of familiar faces. Jackson says the bar and grill has a loyal group of regulars, while others come in for darts, Quickdraw or food. It also seems biker-friendly, judging by all the Harley Davidson memorabilia, including a license plate behind the bar reading “LIV2RYD.”

The food: There’s a full menu, the highlights of which are the beer-battered fish fry and Cajun fish fry, both $9.99 and served on Friday, which is one of the bar and grill’s busier days, Jackson says. The place also serves soups and salads, burgers and wraps and appetizers, such as wings, mozzarella sticks and jalapeño poppers ($4.79 to $7.99). Entrées include a “Rubbish” plate, along with steak, ribs, chicken and seafood dishes.

Everyone in the pool: You can watch football on Sundays, but the real attraction is the weekly eight-ball tournament. On Mondays, you can play pool for free.

Surprise!
If it’s your birthday, The Overtime Grill will give you up to $7 off of any meal.
