If you wouldn’t be caught dead in a museum on a Friday night, fret not. Attending an art opening at your favorite bar is another way to soak up some culture and keep it classy while tipping back a few drinks.
The following bars feature rotating artwork by some of Rochester’s finest artists.
This South Wedge staple is currently showing paintings by Ed Repard. Lux rotates works about once every four months and usually sticks to 2-D art.
If you’re feeling inspired, you can make your own masterpiece any Monday night during arts and crafts night.

Roc Brewing Co.
This brewery may be pint-sized, but it’s got plenty of personality, thanks in part to its rotating art.
Three artists from Wall Therapy — a collective whose mission includes “inspiring and rehabilitating” the community, according to its website — are currently featured, and one even painted a mural on the outside of the building.
A poster art display is expected to open on Saturday, Oct 13.

Visit the Bug Jar on the first Friday of every other month for art openings. Currently on its walls is the exhibit “Rough Truth: Caricatures by Alison Cowles,” a collection of caricatures of famous folks from the tube, the silver screen and the stage.
Expect the unexpected at this bar — multimedia, sculpture, oils and acrylics. Live music plays nightly.

The Owl House
Two artists are currently showing at this restaurant/bar — J.R. and Noelle Kraus, a married couple. Stop in for a classic cocktail or one of many vegetarian options on the menu and view Noelle’s paintings and J.R.’s photography. Artwork generally rotates monthly.

Lovin' Cup Bistro & Brews
Painter Adrien C. Tucker is currently showing his work at this RIT adjacent bar/bistro. Lovin’ Cup mixes it up every other month with an art opening featuring music by the Moho Collective. Expect a variety of media, with some solo shows and some collaborative.
