Hot on the heels of the first East End Music Festival, East End fest 2 arrives Friday, July 10, with new bands and more perks for VIPs. Headlining acts that will perform in the entertainment district's closed-off streets are That 80's Hair Band, Download, The Kid Kurry Band, 50/50, Uncle Plum, and The Sunstreak, which recently was signed to EMI Records. The Sunstreak will play the Metromix/insider Broadway Stage, along with Subsoil, The Hoodies and Avenue U, winner of the insider/Metromix Battle of the Bands contest. (For a complete list of bands and stages, see the info box.)
In addition, a team of bikini-clad girls, known as "the push-up patrol," will host a push-up competition among finalists who qualified at earlier at local bars.
As of this festival, re-entry will be allowed only for VIP ticket holders, says organizer John Hutchings, who owns Downtown Fitness Club. VIPs also will get complimentary beer, catered food, free parking and private restrooms.
However, everyone attending will have the chance to win an iPod touch. For more, go to www.eastendmusicfestival.com
