On Thursday, April 30, Twitter users are being asked to step away from the computer and come together for a cause: Foodlink. Social Media for Social Change, a group that coordinates fundraisers using social media, will host RocTwestival at Boulder Coffee, 955 Genesee St., to benefit the regional nonprofit food bank.

"The concept is to connect Twitter communities in an in-person format so they can ... support a good cause together and network and enjoy some food and entertainment together," says Frances Pesavento, Foodlink's director of programs and development.

The event — which raises money through ticket sales — will feature live music from 16-year-old singer/songwriter Sadie Ava and groove band Sinzibukwud (both local) and appetizers from Freshwise Catering.

Sinzibukwud played at the first RocTwestival in February, which raised more than $3,000 locally for Charity:Water. The New York City-based organization helps bring clean water to rural communities around the world.

The band is looking forward to performing at the second RocTwestival, says drummer Aaron Hunt. "We look at this as an opportunity to help raise money for a good cause as well as an opportunity to find a new audience for our music," he says.

Tickets will be $10 at the door and include a free serving of beer, wine or coffee. And you don't have to be on Twitter to participate. "We want the general community to know (that RocTwestival) is not just for people who Tweet," says Pesavento. "We're reaching out through social media, but anyone is more than welcome to join."

Boulder Coffee's Brooks Landing site is just down the street from Foodlink's warehouse on Exchange Street. "We thought it would be a great location to highlight the neighborhood," Pesavento says, "and also a great opportunity to bring people together in a new venue and a place to support that's local."
