The annual music festival will feature performances by  hundreds of performers at venues (indoor and outdoor) throughout Rochester, including the Harro East, Kilbourn Hall, Eastman Theatre, Xerox Auditorium, Festival Jazz tent, Montage Grille, Max of Eastman Place and others.

The Maplewood Rose Celebration comes into full bloom this weekend at the Maplewood Rose Garden, Lake and Driving Park avenues. Although the roses will command center stage the festival offers other fun activities including crafts, garden displays and gardening workshops. There’ll also be tours of the rose gardens and the gorge, food vendors, children’s activities and live entertainment. Events run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Highlights include Gorge Explorer hikes, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday; children’s inflatables (a fundraiser for the Maplewood YMCA), 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday; Wine and Jazz in the Garden, noon to 4 p.m. Saturday; and the Father’s Day Picnic in the Park, 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. The weekend kicks-off on Friday with the Party on the Bridge , a block party featuring live entertainment, food and fireworks. It runs from 7 to 10 p.m. Admission is free. The inaugural Nazareth College Dance Festival opens Saturday with a New Orleans-style street parade along ARTWalk led by Cleveland-based Inlet Dance Theatre. It starts at 11:30 a.m. Inlet on Sunday will again give strolling performances, this time at 1 p.m. along Schoen Place in Pittsford. Inlet will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at Nazareth College Arts Center. Tickets for the concert are $20 to $30. On Sunday and Monday, the dance festival also will host free dance concerts on the lawn at Nazareth featuring several local dance groups including Bharata Classical Indian Dance, Borinquen Dance Theatre, Bill Evans Dance Co. and Bush Mango Drum & Dance. The festival continues with debates on the theme, “What is Dance?” and performances throughout next week. The inaugural Tour de New York will explode onto the international cycling scene and showcase the beautiful western New York and Finger Lakes Regions of upstate New York from Aug. 7 to 11. The five-day race will bring world-renowned professional teams to the Rochester Twilight Criterium on Saturday, Aug. 7, a 10-mile time trial on Aug. 8 and the tour will continue through Aug. 11 with two road races and one circuit race.
