8. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2"

It's practically Hollywood dogma that as long as box office blockbusters deliver enough visual spectacle, they don't need to be, you know, great films. But that's never been the philosophy of the "Harry Potter" series. Even those who can't get past the spells and house elves and horcruxes, have to grant that Event Movies are rarely so attuned to their characters (rarely brought to life by ensembles so peerless) that they could possibly sustain eight consecutive installments of creative and commercial success. Director David Yates—who's been running the show since "Order of the Phoenix"—closed the franchise with a bang, in the grand finale fans not only wanted, but deserved.
