'Act of Valor'
Plot: A team of real-life Navy SEALs stage a thrilling rescue of a kidnapped CIA agent (Roselyn Sanchez), who had just uncovered a jihadist plot to bomb U.S. cities. The SEALs must then find the suicide bombers before they sneak into the USA.
R; 1 hour, 41 minutes
Upside: Employing real Navy troops as stars is a clever idea for an action thriller. Act of Valor is at its best during super-charged, tense scenes of combat.
Downside: When the movie dials down the warfare and attempts to humanize this highly trained cadre of fighting men, the dialogue feels forced -- and the dialogue is clichéd to begin with.
