Chocolate and Vines
757 University Ave. - RochesterA restaurant with a tasting kind of menu cheeses and wines along with bonbons and other desserts has opened in the Neighborhood of the Arts section of Rochester's University Avenue. Chocolate and Vines, 757 University Ave., is patterned after successful restaurants in New York City and on the West Coast, said owners Danielle Lewis and Michael Goldberg. The owners spent 18 months renovating a turn-of-the-century home into the restaurant, which occupies 1,200 square feet on the first floor. Chocolate and Vines is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 11 p.m.

3349 Monroe Ave. - RochesterThere is a wide selection of pastas, pizza and other Italian favorites here. Management finds a nice balance between upscale and casual Italian. In the Pittsford Plaza, this also is a good place for a glass of wine and appetizer before or after you see a movie next door. The menu has also been expanded to include contemporary and traditional Tuscan dishes, wood-fired pizzas, more small plate antipasto dishes and many California and Italian wines by the glass. Benucci's serves lunch 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and dinner 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Tandoor Flame
1855 Empire Blvd. - PenfieldThe just-opened Tandoor Flame is now serving Indian food, with a $6.99 lunch buffet from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and a full dinner menu from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday and 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Five Guys Burgers and Fries
3349 Monroe Ave. - PittsfordFive Guys Burgers and Fries now has a third local franchise in Pittsford Plaza. The same bare bones menu hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fries, hot dogs and grilled cheese sandwiches as its Webster and Henrietta locations. Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

Abbott's Frozen Custard
72 St. Paul St. - RochesterThe former Abbott's Frozen Custard kiosk in Midtown Plaza has relocated to this downtown location. The kiosk began serving treats in the early '80s, but closed in 2008 when the plaza ceased operating. The new location's larger space allows for a full restaurant. The Kitchen Keg will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner in addition to Abbott's famous signature frozen custard. There are plans for live entertainment.

140 East Ave. - RochesterAfamily-style Italian restaurant which offers a lunch menu. Relocated from Seneca Falls.
Sagamore Grille
140 East Ave. - RochesterThe Sagamore Griile is a high-end sports bar and restaurant in Rochester's lower East End district. It's open for lunch and dinner. Appetizers rage from $10 to $18, sandwiches are $11 to $16 and dinners average $15. Parking is available in the East End parking garage and free valet service is available.
Standard Lounge
655 Monroe Ave. - RochesterThis venue is located in the space formerly occupied by Spike's sports bar. The new business has a retro '70 decor with comfortable brown leather couches and padded vinyl bar stools. Because this venue is surrounded by some of Monroe Avenue's most popular eaterys, the owners decided not to get in a food fight. They worked out an arrangement with the restaurants which has food brought over without delivery charges. The electronic jukebox pumps classic rock and there are plans for live bands. 90 W. Main St. - VictorThe Tuscan-style restaurant will serve wood-fired pizzas and chicken wings, salads and paninis. It is owned and operated by Andrea Augello Coene of Farmington and Charlie Augello of Gananda, Wayne County.Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday; 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

Cheesy Eddie's provides a variety of homemade cheesecakes and desserts. The shop is owned by Andrea Hughes of Gates.
Murphy's Law Irish Pub

165 Monroe Ave. - RochesterThe partners originally envisioned an osteria, a place featuring wine at the fore, with food designed to enhance it. They planned to feature brick oven pizzas and simple caf fare and they do but that menu has expanded to include salads, pastas and entrees.
Salvatore's Old Fashioned Pizzeria
2160 Penfield Road - PenfieldSalvatore's has opened a new pizzeria in Penfield at Parkside Commons, 2160 Penfield Road. The new location is owned by Salvatore's Old Fashioned Pizzeria president, John Coraggioso of Webster, and Silvio Fantauzzo, also of Webster.
Sereno’s Philly Steaks and Hots
541 West Whitney Road - PerintonThe restaurant specializes in big city sandwiches like the Philly cheese steak, the Miami Cuban and Buffalos beef on weck. Wendy and Michael Sereno of Perinton own the shop.
Small World Bakery
389 Gregory St. - RochesterA new bakery, Small World Bakery, has opened in the South Wedge at 389 Gregory St. The bakery uses primarily organic ingredients in a variety of items such as breads, bagels, pies, pastries, muffins and cookies. The business is owned by Eli Rubin, Leigh Michelow, Luke Stodola, Ruth Blackwell and Andrea Salzman of Rochester and Andrew Langdon of Oakfield, Genesee County.

The Humphrey House
1783 Penfield Road - PenfieldThe Humphrey House at 1783 Penfield Road in Penfield has reopened. The restaurant was closed for one year, changed owners and underwent renovations. The new owners are Michael and Cyndy Videtti of Webster.
Yumbo's
39 W. Main St. - RochesterOwners Bernie and Veronica LoBello's southern-style deli is in heart of the government/business district of downtown Rochester. The menu features freshly made sandwiches, subs, salads and platters with whimsical names ("Mock-chester Plate," "Sow Tower" and "Pig in the Garden.") Yumbo's wasoringally located on Fitzhugh Street but has since moved to 39 W. Main St.
