I am always amazed that Bill Gray's tops lists of the best cheeseburger/hamburger in the area......are you kidding me.....they always look like they have been run over by a tractor trailer. Give me a burger with some substance (aka meat)......that's why we always make our own at home. And their prices are outrageous (unless you have a buy one/get one free coupon).

Though Red Robin can wreak havok on the stomach occasionally, I appreciate the fact that I can substitute a veggie burger in their ridiculous combinations.

Red Robin is WAAAAY overrated. And expensive. I just don't get it. The burgers are only so-so. If you want a great burger from a chain place, no one beats good ol Friendly's. The mushroom bacon swiss never fails to satisfy.

I totally agree about Schaller's being the best, and that chain burgers don't even qualify. I live in Florida now but grew up in Charlotte and it's burger heaven there! Every time we come home the first stop is always Schallers, and as many stops as we can fit in before heading back.

My vote would have to go to Romigs Tavern. If you have not all ready tried their Monster Burger then you need to. It is a 3/4 lb burger on toasted Italian, or french bread. Enjoy whatever why you like your Burgers. I love Their Home made meat hot sauce, also mustard, and onions on mine. It does not get much better than this. Romigs is located at the corners of Dewey AVE, & Bennington Dr in Rochester, very close to the Greece border.

Schaller's is the best!! First thing I do when I come home to Rochester is go there for a ground round covered with pickles! Nothing here in Florida is even close.

Another vote for Schaller's. The others are good, but when you get a craving for a Schaller's burger....

A chain like Red Robin does not belong on this list (it's like how Papa John's wins Best Pizza every year in the Reader's Choice - are you kidding me?!). We should be promoting the best of our LOCAL burgers, especially because they CAN NOT be beaten by any chain!!! No list is complete without LDR, Vic & Irv's, Orbackers, and SCHALLERS. Wahlburgers are my personal favorite. Besides, I've had the RR 5 alarm burger - really not hot, at all. And I'm just a 24yr female sensitive to 3/6 star spicy thai food.

Give the Glutton Burger at Romig's a try (Dewey Ave) - make sure to take your lipitor LOL - but wow! Awesome. Also give WindJammers a shot down in Charlotte - they might have the best handmade, fresh burgers in the area - big, big, big and their seasoning kicks arse too!

Don't forget about the Gluttonburger at Orbakers on 104 in Williamson! You can't top that. (Or is that too far for you city folk to travel?)

I agree Schaller's can't be beat. I also live in AZ. where you can't get anything close to a ground round on a hard roll.

O'Laughlin's in Summerville makes an incredible sirloin burger. Yum
