This little gem is a winner! We were there along with other guests like The Mayor of ROC! The food is terrific and the atmosphere is very comfortable.

My family had the exact experience when we went in the second time. There was some kind of family get together there and they were being loud and inconsiderate. When we go to dine, I atleast want to hear the person across from me without screaming!!

Lucano's restaurant is one of the few Italian restaurants in town worth visiting. It is a small, cozy place and the owners are usually there. It is best to make a reservation, as they are frequently full. I usually have either a veal dish or pasta. The pasta sauces are made on the premises, and they are delicious. It also has a reasonable wine selection (not large, but a good variety), and the desserts are tasty. One of the things I like best is that you are not hurried through your meal. Prices are a bit higher than average, but the meal value is much higher; not a bad trade-off.

we stopped in after my husband found Sam's online with my sister and 6 year old grandson. it was around 7:30 after a very long day. what a delightful surprise. not only was the food phenomenal, we were treated as though they had just been waiting for us to arrive. they went out of their way to interact with my grandson, to the point of letting him pick out each italian cookie from the cookie tray. i would recommend this restaurant to anyone with their family or for a romantic evening. it was just fabulous.

AWFUL pizza. Awful ingredients from the toppings, to (and especially) the crust. I had better pizza at the high school cafeteria.

Best Mexican food since Don Pablo's went out of business! Still looking for Mexican food like what I used to eat in Southern San Diego, California.

Everything they had to eat was great until they closed about 6 months ago. They hope to open up again someday, since they have been an icon of the City of Rochester, NY for so many years!

I was among one of the first patrons to be invited to the grand opening of the Rochester Anchor Bar. If you were there, you'll remember how it was packed well beyond capacity including patrons from the bar next door walking back and forth through the open doors to take advantage of the open bar. At first glance it appeared to be yet another empty room filled with chairs, people, TV's, and a bar with recognizable employees from Ronny Davis' other establishments. To a patron visiting the downtown nightlife almost every weekend, this was no surprise. Having been a long time fan of the Buffalo Anchor Bar, I had a frame of reference of what to expect, and where to set my expectations. Boy was I disappointed. The bar was crowded, can't hold that against them. The wings were soggy, EXTREMELY undercooked, to the point that they were piping hot (physically), sauceless, and saturated with dripping cooking oil. Poor start, however I could hardly hold it against them being their first night open. Second attempt, Sept. 19, figured I'd give them another shot after working out the kinks. This was yet another echo of the many east end establishments all operated by the same owner. I ordered 40 wings for takeout, 8:00 PM. Early on a Saturday night but the bar is packed already. My friend and I decide to grab a drink while we wait. Believe it or not, I had placed my drink order 3 times without a single drink served to me. Bartenders were taking drink orders then fraternizing with their friends who had come to the bar for free drinks, slamming shots with them then wandering around almost as if looking for more people they know. Then when struck by the sight of flailing arms by the not-so-subtle patrons who make their presence known, they serve the squeakiest wheel first. This is the low quality garbage I have come to find that Rochester bars setting as par for the course. Which screams to me a slogan that sounds something like "Come here, we'll sell you a drink" In my opinion, that's all they WILL promise you. If not satisfied? oh well, we'll get your business back the next year when we close down, remodel and reopen under a different name.

After eating unforgettable wings at the original Buffalo location, my wife & I planned a Saturday night dinner at the new East Ave Anchor Bar. The nerve of charging customers $5 for parking wasn't a good first impression. I thought everyone downtown screams how no one wants to patronize our city on the weekends- then charging to park should be the first thing to go. I had lunch plans to go there during the week & have changed them. I can only imagine trying to find a side street spot at noon M-F. After waiting 15 minutes for a table, which can be expected, we were seated. It didn't matter if the seats were under a speaker or not- because they music was being played at a deafeningly loud level. We had to shout to each other at our table to be heard. The service was average at best. We asked for extra crispy hot wings. They were fairly crispy, but not hot at all- medium at best. We decided not to return again & prefer the Distillery or Jeremiah's wings any day.

If you're out on Saturday night , and you don't want to have to talk to your date, this is the place for you - walking in last night (Oct. 3), I almost suggested that we elsewhere to eat, like Casa de Pasta, Eric's Office, or the Lumberyard Grille, but sadly, I decided to try it out. Aside from the 20-something who seated us, none of the other wait staff could bear to smile. We were seated and then abandoned for awhile - place mats would have been helpful, as the tables are all scratched up. I've eaten in plenty of similar places - Jeremiah's, MacGregors', Lock's, but even Hot Shots Indoor Volleyball wasn't as horrendously loud as this place. The patrons weren't kids, but adults with families who were actually yelling across tables and the room. The space is beautiful, but the sound carries like mad. One of the non-smilers whisked away an empty glass, never bothering to check if a refill was needed. The ladies bathroom was littered with toilet paper and paper towels - I even picked them up on my first trip in, and it was just as bad the second time around. The food was obviously pre-prepared - the "loaded" baked potato had spent too much time under refrigeration, the sour cream in a little plastic container, sourdough bread that had more resemblance to Wonder than anything else. The draft beer was the only salvation, although when we asked for our check, we got another (unwanted) beer - (I'm guessing the waitress couldn't hear either) -at this point my companion was beyond sending it back - maybe it's more enjoyable on a different night, but neither the food nor the staff made me want to return, EVER. I checked their website, and not surprisingly, there is no "contact us" or actual reviews of the place. Had I known that I'd be wasting hard-earned money on a painfully lackluster dinner (oh, and let's not forget the guy bending over to talk to the people behind us who was basically putting his rear-end in my face...), I would have dragged my date out of there to one of the other far superior choices in Canandaigua. You get what you pay for.... there are wonderful places to eat downtown - don't bother with this one.

My husband and I went to the Anchor Bar around four o'clock Friday; we wanted to make sure we got a seat at the bar. Turns out there was no reason for us to get there early. It was more than half full, but no worries about not getting a seat. The drinks seemed a little pricey. Apparently their happy hour special is fifty cents off all drinks. Hmm. That is probably the worst "special" at a bar I have seen. The waitstaff was bored. We sat near the end of the bar near the kitchen and there were, at any given time, two to four servers with nothing to do. There's always something to do! Like maybe clean the bathrooms. When I went into the ladies room I immediately noticed chicken on the floor. It looked like someone had spit out several pieces of chicken wing. There's no way it had been cleaned in the past twenty-four hours. With all the female bartenders and servers there, I can't believe none of them had used the restroom and not noticed the food on the floor. It just seemed like they were pretty faces hired to serve food and drink. You apparently need no experience to work at the Anchor Bar. The wings were a complete disappointment. Maybe I had built up the Anchor Bar too much in my head. The choices for wings are mild, medium, hot, suicidal and barbeque. We like hot wings, not edible fire, but spicy wings. We ordered hot and got naked wings. Not one drop of sauce on them. They were basically fried chicken wings. After bringing this to our server's attention, she quickly noted that she didn't make the sauce. Sweety, if you did, we wouldn't be here. She also said that some cooks don't coat them the way they should, and took them back to be corrected. Now, that tells me that the cooks need to be retrained. When the wings came back, they noticeably had sauce on them which was a good thing. The "hot" sauce though was mild. Not a twinge of spicyness. Very disappointing. We asked our server if we could try a little bit of the suicidal sauce to see if that was hot. Suicidal turned out to be a nice, peppery sauce, hardly suicidal. It would have been medium at any other bar in town. After informing our server of this, she stated she hears that a lot. So what does that tell you??? Basically, if you want wings with any kind of flavor, go somewhere else. The wings here were cooked well and meaty. They were just very blah. I guess the Anchor Bar's claim to fame is the fact that they created the buffalo chicken wing. They just didn't do anything to improve on that fact in over forty years. We will not be back. There are too many other places in town that serve better wings. *cough, cough* ..Acme

Sat down, took the server five minutes to even come to our table. We almost left. Food was mediocre at best. Sauces on the burrito and enchilada tasted like spaghetti sauce. Not to my liking at all. Will not be going there again.

I dropped in to the Anchor Bar with a co-worker after second shift on 9/26. I called first since it was raining. They said the wait was about 10 min. When we got there we waited about 5 min. and were seated under a speaker. It was loud and they were busy, but it was Saturday night at a sports bar. The waitress arrived within seconds. We had a beer and a double order of wings each. Having eaten at the Anchor bar in Buffalo about 1½ or 2 years ago I can say that they were spot on the recipe. My co-worker said his were a touch dry but mine were as I remember from the Buffalo location and definitely not under cooked as several earlier reviews had observed. We where there about 40 minutes and the waitress was by at least 4 or 5 times to be sure all was well. The beers came within 2 minutes, and the wings couldn't have been much more than 5. Waitress seemed like she may have been just a little bit new but was courteous, professional and competent in a very crowded bar. I would definitely go back again as it seems the start up problems that others have alluded to have been largely worked out. I brought wings home to my wife and she also liked them the next day.

Over-priced, uninspired food. Under-trained staff, indifferent management. At PARE, evidently the customer is NOT always right. Beware: Snafus with dining certificates.

From the bread and butter spreads that came before the meal to the appetizer and pasta dish, my husband and I were so impressed! We moved here from NYC 2 years ago and have tried quite a few restaurants in the area...we feel Henry B's is in the top 2 restaurants! For those people who think its overpriced, I am kind of surprised...you can go out to a nice restaurant and spend $20+ on a pasta dish that serves one! I felt Henry B's was quite reasonable, loved the atmosphere and the food was just delicious! We've been twice and are going again this weekend, I can't get enough of this place!

I am original from Buffalo and have gone to the "original Anchor Bar" for years. I had to go to the East Ave location to see if the wings were the same and they were. Exactly. They did it right! The atmosphere is not the same, but I wasn't expecting that. The service was good. Didn't wait that long for our food. Drinks were comparable to the Buffalo location. I think it's a great area for a second location. I only had one issue and it had to do with other customers. My husband and I ate in the bar area. We were waiting for our check. Three people walk in, gave there name (by this time there was a wait to be seated). They went to the bar and ordered drinks. They immediatley decided that they wanted our table. One guy stay his bottle of beer on our table three times while we were sitting there. How Rude! Then one of the guys went up to the person taking names for tables and said he wanted our table. The guy comes back and puts a piece of paper on our table with "reserved" on it. Hello I am still sitting here. We got up to leave and they practicly were sitting in our seats before we were out of them. I used my better judgement and just commented on their rudeness. Come on they are only chicken wings! I mean they are good, but didn't your mother teach you to use manners in public. Overall the experience was good until that point. I think the person taking names for tables could have handled it better. That would have never happened at the Buffalo location.
